The Ansbach Chamber Orchestra is a semi-professional orchestra that is based in Ansbach .

General

The Ansbach Chamber Orchestra appeared for the first time in 1964 under the then church music director Otto Meyer. It emerged from the singing society founded in 1831, which was then expanded to a singing and orchestral society. In 1964 the ensembles choir and orchestra separated. The orchestra initially limited itself to baroque music . Over time, the ensemble expanded its repertoire to include music from the 19th and 20th centuries. Gradually the Ansbach Chamber Orchestra became a sought-after partner for orchestral and oratorio concerts far beyond southern Germany.

The orchestra consists of professional musicians, music teachers and amateur musicians. The line-up varies depending on the work from chamber ensembles to symphonic ensembles. The orchestra works exclusively with guest conductors. The concertmaster is in charge of smaller ensembles.
