An address grid is the name given to the inscriptions on railway vehicles , i.e. locomotives, railcars, wagons, etc., from which technical and administrative data such as B. owner, home station , weight, types of brakes , number of seats, etc. of the vehicle. An address board is attached to the auxiliary vehicle for track-driven auxiliary vehicles , i.e. construction machinery (e.g. rail-road excavators, cranes, silo units), measuring vehicles and small cars , which also summarizes the most important data and conditions of the work assignment. The address grid or, for short, the address of a vehicle is applied directly to the vehicle at a height of less than 2 m above the track (paint application using a stencil or foil lettering).
