history
The previous building was mentioned around 1322. The residence was built on these foundations in the 16th century by the Counts of Blumenegg . The Blumenegg come from the Walgau . The building is named after them to this day.
architecture
The Blumenegg residence is located on Maurachgasse, where the Stadtsteig to the Lower Gate begins. It is a three-storey cubic structure with a mansard hipped roof and dormers. The facades were given their present appearance around the middle of the 19th century. The main facade facing Maurachgasse has six axes, the narrower, south-western facade has five axes. The windows on the first floor have wrought iron baskets and flower boxes. The windows on the two upper floors can be closed with wooden shutters. On the first floor there is a wide beam with a delicate cornice and small acanthes above the lintel . Five steps lead to the simple rectangular entrance portal, which is clad with natural stone. A stone coat of arms is attached above.
