Antispam e. V. is a non-profit German consumer protection association that mainly deals with the topic of spam and how to avoid it. The association operates the website antispam-ev.de , a consumer protection portal .

Club history

The Antispam-ev.de portal was founded in 1999 as a user initiative. At the end of 2004, the founding event of the association was held in Frankfurt am Main, and since January 2006 Antispam eV has been registered with the Wipperfürth District Court under registration number 702. Currently AG Cologne VR 800702.

In September 2011 the association moved the consumer protection portal from the domain antispam.de to the domain antispam-ev.de . The reason given for the move was the rights to the domain antispam.de , which are not owned by the Antispam e. V. are.

Purpose of the association

Purpose of the Antispam e. V. is the "promotion of consumer advice and consumer protection in the field of modern means of communication. It is intended to prevent and combat the misuse of modern means of communication for the purpose of defrauding consumers and harming the general public in the form of a consumer protection association. ”Consumers should be advised and supported.

The antispam-ev.de forum, which is affiliated with the association , deals mainly with the fight against unwanted advertising by e-mail ( spam ), by SMS or by telephone ( unwanted telephone advertising ).

In addition, suspicious e-mails are checked for authenticity, fake senders are identified and tips are given on how to defend against spam of all kinds. A separate sub-forum deals with fraudulent activities on coffee trips.

All information and assistance is free, the association is financed from membership fees, sponsors from the software industry and advertising.

Media presence

Antispam-ev.de has been the victim of DDoS attacks several times and therefore appears repeatedly in the media. Journalists also like to use the forum for research and use it as a source of information.
