Anton-Joseph Ilk  (born February 8, 1951 in Oberwischau (Vişeu de Sus / Romania)) is a German-speaking ethnologist  and writer .

biography

Anton-Joseph Ilk was born in Oberwischau (Vişeu de Sus / Romania) in 1951. After attending the German general school in his hometown and the Roman Catholic cantor school in Alba Iulia (Karlsburg), he studied theology there, was ordained a priest in 1977, then worked as a chaplain in Satu Mare (Sathmar) and later as a pastor in Baia Mare (Neustadt ). In 1998 Ilk returned to the country of origin of his ancestors and has since worked as a pastor in the Diocese of Linz. In 2009 he received his doctorate in European Ethnology / Folklore from the University of Vienna. Anton-Joseph Ilk's research area is the Wassertal in the northern Romanian Forest Carpathians. He has published several books and papers on this subject. Ilk is a member of the German Society for Folklore and of the Carpathian German Writers Working Group.
