Anu-uballit Kephalon

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Anu-uballiṭ Kephalon was a city lord of Uruk who lived around 200 BC. Under Antiochus III. officiated.

He is known from various sources. Above all, he donated the temple of Anu and Antum in 201 BC. Anu-uballit also built a large temple called Irigal . These buildings, the bricks of which are stamped with his name, perhaps stand with the victorious campaigns of Antiochus III. in connection, who gave the order and the money. These temples are the last great temple buildings in the Babylonian style in Mesopotamia .

Anu-uballit Kephalon was evidently a man from Uruk who took on a second Greek name. He was married to a Greek woman named Antiochis (daughter of a Diophantos).
