Mark

As marking to designate flagging suitable points or lines on a workpiece. This is used to prepare for one or more subsequent work steps.

The process is also known as scribing , mainly in metal construction .

Here, the marking is shown using the example of the manufacture of glasses .

In order to incorporate the spectacle lenses supplied by the manufacturer with a certain diameter into the spectacle frame with a dimensional and precise fit, besides grinding the spectacle lenses, the work step "Marking" is necessary beforehand. It is first checked whether the specified dioptric power of the vertex power of a spectacle lens on the image side agrees with the manufacturer's specifications . For this purpose, the sphere, the cylinder , its axis position and - if necessary - the prismatic power and its base position are measured using a lensmeter . In the case of multifocal lenses, the measurement data for the close range are also compared with the manufacturer's information. Then the reference point is marked for centering. For this purpose, three points are marked with an easily removable color on the surface of the spectacle lens.
