Apala

Apala is a style of music that originally came from the Yoruba of Nigeria . The music style based on percussion instruments was developed in the late 1930s to wake up believers practicing Ramadan . Under the influence of Cuban music, the rhythm became increasingly complex and became popular across Nigeria.

Apala is played with a Sekere , an Agidigbo , an Agogô and two or three Gangans .
