Apollonopolis

Apollonopolis or Apollinopolis (Greek Ἀπόλλωνος πόλις Apollonos polis ) is the name of several places in ancient Egypt:

  • Apollonopolis Magna , today's Edfu
  • Apollonopolis Parva , also Diocletianopolis , today Qus (city)
  • Apollonopolis Heptakomias Mikra , today Kom Isfaht in Upper Egypt, between Tima and Assiut
  • Apollonopolis or Apollonos Hydreium , a station on the road from Koptos to Berenice Troglodytica ( Berenike (Baranis) )
  • Apollonopolis (Ethiopia) , place in eastern Ethiopia
