Roll call (fencing)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The appeal is a movement in fencing that is classified in the classic fencing school and is rarely taught today. The roll call is a quick, easy move. It is used to describe the light, lively stepping forward with the forward foot to confuse or distract the opponent.

The feint of the roll call puts you ahead of your opponent at a fencing pace. You force him to react, with subsequent action of his own, for which he is not prepared. The upper body is upright during roll call. If possible, the weight is evenly distributed on both legs so that movement both forwards and backwards is possible. The roll call is often followed by a dropout or, in the case of trained fencers, a flèche .
