Watercolor paper

Watercolor paper is a paper that is optimized for the artistic technique of watercolor painting (painting with water- mixable pigments ); but it can also be used for other drawing techniques. The paper must absorb water colors well and must not bleed through, at the same time it must be erasable.

Watercolor paper is wood-free and is made partly or entirely from rag . The grammage of watercolor papers is between 120 g / up to 850 g / m². The papers are manufactured and sold as sheets, blocks or rolls.

Usually, watercolor papers are coated papers. There are different surfaces that give the painting a different look :

  • Coarse grain
  • Satin finish
  • Fine grain
  • Torchon has a surface structure that can best be described as a coarse linen structure.
