Arad Fort
The Arad Fort ( Arabic Arabic قلعة عراد, DMG Qalʿat ʿArād ) is a former Portuguese fortress on the island of al-Muharraq .
The Fort of Arad was built in the 16th century in the typical design of a fort from that time during the Portuguese invasion of Bahrain in 1522. The building served as a defensive base and allows a generous view over large parts of the Muharraq Island. The building is rectangular with cylindrical towers at each of the four corners. The Arad Fort has been extensively renovated since then. It is illuminated at night. It is close to Bahrain International Airport and is now also used as an amphitheater for music events. Sun joined Eric Clapton here in 2014 as part of his Eric Clapton World Tour 2014 in the arena more than 10,000 people.
