Chamber of Labor levy

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Labor levy is in Austria the contribution that the employees who are members of Labor, to finance the chamber for workers and employees on the basis of mandatory membership must make.

In 2012 it amounts to 0.5% of the gross wage or salary and is withheld by the employer along with the social security contributions. The maximum contribution limit is based on that of the health insurance. The special payments are not subject to tax.

Just like the other social security contributions, it has an income tax-reducing effect, as it is a matter of compulsory contributions.

Unemployed persons , apprentices , basic military and civil servants, civil servants entrusted with sovereign affairs and persons on parental leave are excluded from the Chamber of Labor levy .
