The Working Group of Catholic Organizations in Germany (AGKOD) brings together around 125 Catholic associations , clerical communities and movements, secular institutes as well as actions, specialist associations, professional associations and initiatives that are active on a supra-diocesan level. The organizations united in the working group have around 6 million members. The organization is based in the Friesdorf district of Bonn .

history

In Germany, the Catholic associations that arose in the context of the bourgeois freedom movement in the 19th century gave German Catholicism a historically unmistakable shape. AGKOD is rooted in this tradition. She sees independent action in society as an essential feature of the communal apostolate.

tasks

The task of the working group (described in the AGKOD regulations) is to advise on common concerns of the Catholic organizations in church, state and society, to represent joint initiatives and to promote the exchange of ideas and experiences among its member organizations.

organization

The assembly of delegates of the working group elects 97 personalities to the general assembly of the Central Committee of German Catholics (ZdK). Together with the 84 representatives of the diocesan councils and 45 individuals, they form the full assembly of the Central Committee of German Catholics (ZdK). Between the delegate assemblies, which meet every two years, an eleven-member board takes on the tasks of AGKOD.
