Working group for pharmaceutical process engineering
The working group for pharmaceutical process engineering e. V. ( APV ) is a registered, non-profit recognized, scientific association with headquarters and offices in Mainz. Internationally, the APV acts as the International Association for Pharmaceutical Technology (APV). The purpose of the association according to the statutes is to "expand the scientific knowledge about the development, manufacture, distribution and use of pharmaceuticals and to convey this knowledge to those who are professionally involved in these tasks" (statutes of April 7, 1978, last amended on April 27, 2010).
history
The APV was founded in 1954. The founding members came mainly from public pharmacies with the aim of exchanging ideas about the manufacture and quality control of prescription drugs. In the following years, the APV was of decisive importance for the establishment of the subject pharmaceutical technology at universities. She has contributed to the development of numerous literature and guidelines for the manufacture and testing of pharmaceuticals, which have had a decisive influence on the overall development of pharmacy in Germany. Since its founding, the APV has developed from a national scientific training organization to an internationally renowned scientific society that offers its members a platform for interdisciplinary knowledge exchange and networking in addition to numerous further education and training opportunities. Today most of the members work in pharmaceutical companies and academic research institutions. In addition to the original discipline of pharmaceutical technology, engineers, biologists, chemists, lawyers and other experts are now among the approximately 1700 members of the APV. About 30% of the members live and work outside of Germany. By working in specialist groups, working groups (“task forces”) and local groups, the members have the opportunity to actively participate in the implementation of the goals of the APV. When networking its members, APV also relies on the electronic use of social networks such as LinkedIn and Xing.
The advanced and advanced training courses offered by APV range from information events for starting a career in the pharmaceutical industry, basic courses, seminars on special topics to expert meetings as well as exhibitions, trade fairs and congresses. For the planning, organization and implementation of non-profit events such as B. In-house training courses or exhibitions with commercial exhibits, APV GmbH was founded in 2011, the sole shareholder of which is APV e. V. is.

Congresses, trade fairs and exhibitions
Since 1957, the APV has hosted a congress every year, which from 1967 always had a specific main theme. In 1995 the first “World Meeting on Pharmaceutics, Biopharmaceutics and Pharmaceutical Technology” ( PBP World Meeting ) was held in Budapest in cooperation with the French company apgi (association de pharmacie galénique industrial) . The scientific conference has been held every two years in different European countries since 2006. In addition to the APV and the apgi, the ADRITELF (Associazione Docenti Ricercatori Italiani di Tecnologie e Legislazione) has been one of the main organizers since 2002, and numerous other specialist societies from around the world are also involved. Since 2015, APV has been organizing the “European Conference on Pharmaceutics” in uneven years together with apgi and ADRITELF.
APV was the ideal sponsor of the Technopharm trade fair (registered trademark of APV), which was organized every 18 months by NürnbergMesse under the motto “Pharma Manufacturing Excellence”. In 2016 this event was integrated into the Powtech trade fair, which also takes place in Nuremberg. The APV is the ideal sponsor alongside the Association of German Engineers (VDI).
The APV is also the main organizer of ResearchPharm, which takes place as an exhibition accompanying every PBP Worldmeeting.
