Working tub

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A working tank or Abstehwanne is a structurally separate portion of a continuous glass melting tank during the melting of glass .

The task of the working tub is to cool the molten glass in a sufficiently controlled manner prior to shaping.

Working tanks are separated from the melting tank by a siphon-like flow ( hollow glass ) or a constriction ( float glass ). For shaping, it either flows through a feeder , a Lippstein in a float bath or is taken directly into the pockets of ball feeders.
