The Archaeological Museum is located in the north of the center of Larnaka , about 300 meters south of the remains of the ancient city of Kition on the Plateia Kalograion.

Along with the Pierides Museum, it is one of the two archaeological museums in Larnaka on Cyprus . In two rooms it shows finds from the area around Larnaka from ancient times, as well as finds from the Neolithic settlement Chirokitia (approx. 20 kilometers southwest of Larnaka) and from Kition .

Other large finds and a restored olive oil press can be viewed openly in a back yard of the museum. Behind this courtyard is another openly accessible site with a few archaeological remains.
