The Archaeological Museum of Granada shows archaeological finds from prehistoric times to 1492. It is located in the Casa de Castril palace in downtown Granada , not far from the Alhambra . At least the facade of the palace dates from 1539. The museum is located on the embankment of the Rio Darro, at the transition from the Carrera del Darro (no. 41) to the Po. Padre Manjon . The museum was founded in 1879. In addition to ceramics and weapons, it shows, among other things, the astrolabe by the Muslim astronomer Ibn Zawal from 1481.

Room 1 shows prehistoric finds, room 2 the antiquity and room 3 finds from the late Roman to the Muslim period. In the inner courtyard, under the colonnades, there are also larger exhibits, such as Roman gravestones. The upper floor does not yet have any exhibition rooms open to the public.
