Plovdiv Archaeological Museum
The Regional Archaeological Museum in Plovdiv ( Bulgarian Регионален археологически музей Пловдив , Regional Archaeological Museum, or RAM for short) was founded in 1882 as the Folk Museum of Eastern Rumelia . Since 1928 it has been located at Saedinenie 1 in the building of a former tax agency owned by the Ministry of Finance.
The museum houses exhibits from the prehistoric era , the Thracians , Greeks , Romans , the Middle Ages and the Bulgarian Revival period, as well as a rich numismatic collection.
Probably the most famous exhibit in the museum is the Panagyurishte gold treasure , a treasure made of 9 gold vessels found in 1949.
The numismatic collection consists of around 60,000 coins from the 6th century BC. Until the 20th century AD
