Archaic Triassic

The Archaic Triassic , also known as the Pre-Capitoline Triassic , was a group of three gods in the original Roman religion . It included Jupiter , Mars and Quirinus .

This group of three gods from early Rome was replaced by the Capitoline Triassic ( Jupiter , Juno and Minerva ) after the Etruscan era .

Rediscovery

In his work on Roman religion, Georg Wissowa hypothesized that since the founding of Rome there was a connection between the three Roman deities Jupiter, Mars and Quirinus and the three Flemings , the flamines maiores , who were responsible for the cult as sacrificial priests.

From Dumézil "The archaic Roman religion", the thesis was established that this triadic structure a remnant of a number of studies, especially in Indo-European was religion and the three Indo-European functions correspond.
