The Archive for Austrian History ( AÖG ), originally an archive for customers of Austrian historical sources , is a series of publications that has been published since 1848 by the Commission of the Imperial Academy of Sciences in Vienna (today: Historical Commission ) established to maintain patriotic history .

From 1848 to 1865, the Austrian Historical Commission of the Imperial Academy of Sciences published a series of 33 volumes under the title Archive for Customer of Austrian Historical Sources. The subsequent series with Volume 34 appeared under the new title Archive for Austrian History . The volumes partly consisted of several booklets, with continuous pagination from the 2nd volume onwards. The so-called note sheet in nine parts was published as a supplement to the first volumes from 1851 to 1859 . Until 1966 (volume 125) it appeared irregularly in up to several issues per year as a compilation, and was then continued as a monographic series.
