Properties (selection)

  • ZIP / ZIP64 data compression
  • AES 128 & AES 256 file encryption
  • Filter for file selection (by file extension, directory, size, date ...)
  • Merging archives
  • Simulation of backups
  • FTP and FTPS support
  • SFTP support

Types of backups

  • Full backup: With a full backup , all selected files are saved in an archive file, regardless of whether or not they have been changed since the last backup.
  • Incremental backup: With an incremental backup , only those files are transferred to the archive file that have been changed since the last backup.
  • Differential backup: With a differential backup , only the files that have been changed since the last full backup are transferred to the archive file .

To determine whether a file has been changed, Areca uses the file size and the time of the last change - or the file content. On request, incremental and differential backups can be created delta-coded to save space .
