Argüelles (Madrid)

Coordinates: 40 ° 26 ′  N , 3 ° 43 ′  W Argüelles is a district of Madrid that is located in the west of the city center (“Centro”) and is partlycharacterized by students . It is located in the Moncloa-Aravaca district and is named after Agustín de Argüelles Álvarez .

Argüelles has 26,148 registered inhabitants and an area of ​​75 hectares. 15% of the population are foreigners. During lecture times, in addition to the residents who have mostly been living there for a long time, due to the relative proximity to the universities in the Ciudad Universitaria, there are around 8,000–9,000 students who rent rooms or even entire apartments at very high prices. Overall, Argüelles is considered a quiet district. Bars, discos and clubs can be found in the direction of Malasaña and Gran Vía.
