The Russian-Armenian (Slavonic) State University , also briefly RAU ( Russian Российско-армянский (славянский) государственный университет , Armenian Հայ-ռուսական (սլավոնական) համալսարան ) is a Russian-speaking University in the Armenian capital Yerevan .

history

It was founded in 1997 on the initiative of the Russian and Armenian governments and is still under the control of both governments to this day. In 1999 the first students were finally able to enroll. In 2005 the university was finally accredited by the Russian Ministry of Education. The number of courses offered has increased steadily since it was founded. Since 2009, a school called "Usmunk" has also been attached to the university, which is characterized by particularly intensive Russian lessons.
