Mark Douglas Hertsgaard (* 1956 ) is an American author and journalist .

Life

Hertsgaard worked as a journalist for magazines such as The New York Times , Time and The New Yorker as well as for foreign magazines such as L`Express, Die Zeit and Der Spiegel . Since 1983 Hertsgaard also wrote several non-fiction books. Since the 1990s he has been committed as an author and journalist primarily to environmental issues. For seven years he traveled to all five continents, where he conducted over 100 interviews in 19 countries and processed them for the 1998 book Earth Odyssey: Around the World in Search of Our Environmental Future . A year later the novel was published by S. Fischer Verlag under the title Expedition to the End of the World: In Search of Our Future .
