Arta Arnicane

Arta Arnicane (born September 27, 1982 in Riga ) is a Latvian pianist living in Switzerland .

Life

Arta Arnicane comes from a family of musicians. She studied in Moscow for several years. Supported by foundations, Arta Arnicane received her Master of Music from the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama in 2004 , from the Latvian Music Academy in 2008 and from the Zurich University of the Arts in 2010 . In 2012 she completed a postgraduate course with Homero Francesch at the Zurich University of the Arts .

Arta Arnicane has given solo and chamber music concerts in Europe, the USA, Mexico and Australia. a. with the Kremerata Baltica, the Musikkollegium Winterthur , the pianist Oliver Schnyder , in a duo with the cellist Florian Rohn and the violinist Verena Maria Fitz and with the Latvian Trio (with Jana Ozolina and Gunta Abele).

Arta Arnicane is married to the cellist Florian Arnicans.

Awards

Arta Arnicane has received awards at around 16 piano competitions (as of 2013), including the Prêmio Vianna da Motta (Lisbon, 2001, 5th Prize), the Intercollegiate Beethoven Piano Competition (London, 2002) and the Christopher Duke Memorial Piano Prize (Watford Festival , 2003). In 2010 she achieved four international successes: as the winner of the competition of the Animato Foundation Zurich (2nd prize), the 1st Sussex International Piano Competition, the Baltic International Piano Competition and the Valencia International Piano Competition "Premio Iturbi" (2nd prize ). In 2011 she won the “Prague Spring 2011” competition.

Discography

Arnicane has been making sound recordings for Latvian radio on a regular basis since 1996 . Her CD, released in 2007, contains works by Beethoven, Chopin, Ravel and Rachmaninov and was produced by the Burtnieku Nams studio in Riga.
