Artemon (engineer)

Artemon was a in the 5th century BC. Living Greek engineer from Klazomenai .

Artemon supported the Athenian statesman Perikles in his ultimately successful siege of the city of Samos in 440/439 BC. Through the invention of new siege engines. The fact that he was lame and allowed himself to be carried around in a litter, as the Greek historian Ephoros von Kyme claimed, is due to a confusion with that of the 6th century BC. Living Artemon, who was satirically attacked by the poet Anakreon .
