The arthroscope is a special endoscope that is used for an arthroscopy .

An arthroscope consists of an optical system of rod lenses , a light source and usually a rinsing and suction device. It also has several channels that are used to accommodate surgical instruments for minor surgical interventions.

In addition, arthroscopes are particularly important in the surgical sense, as their use in minimally invasive surgery has made decisive progress possible.
