Artillery duel
In an artillery duel, two enemy artillery units fight each other and try to switch off the opposing battery (s) by indirect fire . The aim is to destroy the opposing artillery forces or at least to induce them to change positions so that they no longer pose a threat to their own troops.
If the exact location of the opposing artillery unit is not known, a certain area is usually fired at, in which the enemy is suspected. However, there are several ways to locate enemy artillery. For example, with an artillery reconnaissance radar, the trajectory of the projectiles can be traced back to the place of origin or the starting point of the firing noise can be determined by acoustic localization with the aid of ( military sound measurement technology ) by measuring the time differences of the sound waves.
