Arure

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Arure is an ancient Egyptian square measure . 100 × 100 ells (royal ells) correspond to 1 Arure. The differences from epoch to epoch were very large. The Arure in Ptolemaic times (332 BC – 30 BC) is given as 2756.5 m², while it is assumed that the Arure measured.73 m² during the Roman Empire in 1974. The reason for this was probably not least the vanity of the respective rulers, who insisted on introducing the measurements of their cubits as the new standard.
