Asian Agri

Asian Agri is an Indonesian palm oil producer, part of the Royal Golden Eagle holding of Sukanto Tanoto . Founded in 1979 and headquartered in Medan, the company is one of the largest producers of raw palm oil in Indonesia with a production capacity of around 1 million tons. It operates 20 oil mills and has 27 plantations totaling 160,000 hectares on the island of Sumatra , 60,000 hectares of which are cultivated by more than 30,000 smallholder families in accordance with state funding programs ( PIR-Trans and Plasma). The majority of the area (around 80%) is certified by the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO). By 2020, 20 biogas plants with a total output of 36 megawatts of electrical energy are to be built, five of which will be in operation in 2017.
