Association des paralysés de France

The Association des paralysés de France (APF), German Association of the Paralyzed of France, is a registered association founded in 1933 by André Trannoy ( Associationn loi 1901 ) with headquarters in Paris , which is represented by branches or délegations départementales in all French departments and in which has a total of around 26,000 members.

The main goals of the organization for the disabled are to represent the interests of physically disabled people and to defend their fundamental rights, in particular the right to equality and the right to recognition of their dignity. In this regard, it negotiates with political bodies at domestic and European level.

In addition, the aim is to improve the mental, social, material and health situation of these people and to support the people by whom they are surrounded. Among other things, it manages 70 special educational institutions and 50 workshops for the disabled . The APF Évasion department for the organization of barrier-free travel is integrated into the association .

The supervisory board elected by the general assembly consists of at least 14 physically handicapped people or their family members and seven other people. The chairman of the board (as of 2007) is Jean-Marie Barbier.
