Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication

The Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication (AEJMC) is a US non-profit association of scientists, university teachers, students and media professionals who teach and research in the fields of communication , mass media and journalism and have administrative responsibility there.

The goals are

  • Quality assurance in academic journalism and media education in the USA
  • Promotion of communication and media science research (mainly in the USA)
  • Cultivation of the best professional practice in teaching and research
  • the publication of high quality scientific journals

history

The association was founded in Chicago in 1912 by Willard Grosvenor Bleyer (from 1912 to 1913 first AEJMC president). This makes it one of the oldest organizations of its kind. It has over 3,700 members worldwide. The annual conferences always take place in August in the USA.
