Associative matrix

Query of an associative matrix in grid display

An associative matrix is an associative memory with a structure that can be represented as a matrix or in the form of a grid consisting of row and column lines. A contact can be established at the crossing points of the row and column lines, which in the matrix representation corresponds to entering a 1 at the associated matrix position. Question-answer pairs are entered in the associative matrix by a learning rule that enables the memory to be queried in a fault-tolerant and similar manner.

Associative matrices, which are used in associative machines, have a typical size of some 10 ^ 3 × 10 ^ 3 entries.
