SES Broadband (formerly ASTRA2Connect) is a two-way satellite internet connection offered by the satellite operator SES Astra . SES has renamed the satellite Internet subsidiary SES Techcom Services.

SES Astra uses satellites at 28.2 ° East for its broadband offer. Astra from Luxembourg does not come into direct contact with customers, but leaves the marketing to sales partners in the target countries. SES Broadband is used to provide fast Internet access in underserved areas without other available Internet connection options (such as DSL or LTE ). In addition, SES Broadband offers flat rate service packages of up to 20 Mbit / s for download or 2 Mbit / s for upload. Usage contracts can only be concluded with limited partners of SES Astra.

technology

Customers use SES Broadband through a separate 75 cm satellite antenna with an interactive low-noise signal converter (iLNB). This iLNB is significantly larger than a normal signal converter (LNB) because it also contains the transmitter unit, and has ventilation slots for cooling. The iLNB works in the Ka band and transmits to the satellite in the frequency range from 29.5 to 30.0 GHz. The iLNB is connected to the associated modem via two antenna cables (one coming from the iLNB and one leading to it), which establishes the connection to the computer.

providers

End customers can only conclude usage contracts through authorized partners. There are two service providers for Germany (www.novostream.de and www.orbitcom.de).
