The Astrophysical Observatory Guillermo Haro , Spanish Observatorio Astrofísico Guillermo Haro is an astronomical observatory of the National Institute for Astrophysics, Optics and Electronics of Mexico . It is located eight miles north of Cananea , about 85 miles southeast of Mount Hopkins at an elevation of 2,480 meters. It is named after the Mexican astronomer Guillermo Haro , who, among other things, founded this observatory in 1972.

Telescopes

The observatory has had a reflecting telescope since 1987 , the main mirror of which has a diameter of 2.12 meters. The observatory also has a smaller 40 cm reflector telescope made by Meade .
