Ateizm Derneği
Ateizm Derneği (in German: Atheism Association ) is an NGO founded in April 2014 to promote the concept of atheism and serve as support for atheists in Turkey who are persecuted because of their views . The current eleven-member organization is chaired by Tolga İnci, and its headquarters are in Kadıköy , Istanbul. It is the first legally recognized Turkish atheist organization and one of the first in the Islamic world. It is recognized by the EU as a representative organization of Turkish atheists.
The Islamization tendencies under Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and his equation in the saying "Despite the left and atheists. These are terrorists" with regard to his implementation of a development plan despite student protests in Ankara are said to have been one of the reasons for founding the organization.
The founding of the association is said to have gone smoothly in bureaucratic terms, but due to insults and threats, the association has installed surveillance cameras, telephone recording devices and a panic button to reach the police more quickly.
