Athens News

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Athens News was an English-language Athens weekly newspaper. It was founded by Giannis Horn and was part of the Lambrakis Foundation. It has currently ceased its publication.

history

In 1952 Giannis Horn founded the Athens News as a daily newspaper. It appeared every day except Mondays. During the military dictatorship, the Athens News was the only newspaper that could work reasonably freely, not least with the help of various embassies. It was the first Greek newspaper to have an online edition. On March 21, 2001, a weekly rhythm was changed, which has since proven itself.

The newspaper has not been published since mid-November 2012, and the online edition is no longer updated either.

layout

The layout of the newspaper was awarded a design prize and was characterized by a very functionalist design. Univers 67 was used for the headings and the Times as the text font .
