Atlas Aircraft Corporation of South Africa

The Atlas Aircraft Corporation (also known as Atlas Aviation) was founded in 1965 to provide a range of military aircraft and equipment for the South African Air Force to produce and export license. Due to the international arms embargo imposed on South Africa in 1970 , the main task was later to further develop, modernize and maintain the operational capability of the aircraft and helicopters of the South African Air Force. After the founding of the large concern Armscor (Armaments Corporation of South Africa) financed by the South African government , the Atlas Aircraft Corporation was subordinated to it in 1968.

In 1992 Atlas was then taken over by the newly founded defense company Denel as Denel Aviation .
