Attenuation
Attenuation ( Latin attenuatio ; "(temporary) reduction") means damping , reduction, delay (especially temporary) and stands for:
- Natural attenuation , in geology, hydrology and soil science a description of the natural retention and degradation potential of a body of water, the groundwater or soil for pollutants
- Attenuation (gene expression) , a form of regulation of gene expression in prokaryotes
- Attenuation , weakening of the pathogenic properties of a pathogen
- Attenuation To Crosstalk Ratio , a measure of the signal- to-noise ratio in telecommunications
- Attenuation correction , part of the correlation calculation
