Concrete

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

As a topping , and top concrete is concrete referred to, which is applied subsequently to an existing solid concrete layer. This method is often used to increase the load-bearing capacity of concrete structures. In- situ concrete is added to the plan, especially for prefabricated ceilings .

Particular attention must be paid to the bonded joint. In particular, it must be free from contamination by foreign matter and the old concrete should be pre-wetted.

If the bond is not ensured by means of reinforcement or dowels, the surface of the old concrete must be specially treated. Various methods are available for this.
