Posting stamp

An object of the temple (also: leaving punch , take-in pad , Auflieferungsstempel ) is a term used in Stamp and generally corresponds to the date stamp or place date stamp ( postmark ). It is pressed on by the respective post office of the shipment when it is posted.

As a rule, the stamp is used for stamp cancellation , but it can also serve as an auxiliary stamp .

According to Grallert, there were posting stamps in Great Britain from 1661, in France from 1694 and at the Post Office of Thurn-und-Taxis from 1725.

Posting stamps were introduced in Hanover in 1816.
