Bitumen pressure sensitive adhesive

Spraying with hot bitumen for a surface treatment, application is identical for pressure-sensitive adhesives

The bitumen pressure sensitive adhesive (including adhesive , short HK) or under new name C40B5-S (formerly C 40 BF1 -S) is a cationic bituminous emulsion having a low binder content and a high solvent additive. Application of the bitumen pressure sensitive adhesive is used as a molding , pre-spraying or jetting , respectively. The advantage over a normal cationic bitumen emulsion (without additives) is that the bitumen adhesive is very thin. This ensures good dust penetration. A bond between the base and the applied material is consequently guaranteed. Adhesive is usually processed cold; heating to 40–60 ° C is possible.

Bitumen adhesive can be sprayed on for a variety of reasons. It is a basic component of the layer composite , in rare cases (concrete substrate), pressure-sensitive adhesive is applied as a pore sealer and adhesion improver during a surface treatment .

In principle, the application of a pressure-sensitive adhesive serves to create a bond between layers (gluing) when installing several layers of rolled asphalt . Depending on the application, between 0.15 and 0.25 kg / m² should be applied. A lack of composite layers leads to faster fatigue of the pavement.
