Thawing floor
Thawed soil is called the uppermost layer of the permafrost that is thawed in the polar summer and is sometimes heavily soaked in water .
The thawing soil thaws in different thicknesses, depending on the soil and rock material and the composition of the vegetation cover .
Often the thawing floor is soaked in moisture that solifluction or cryoturbation occurs.
The thickness of the thawing ground is only a few centimeters towards the pole, in Siberia it reaches a depth of several meters, up to a thickness of 20 to 40 meters.
