from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Aumühle is a facility for people with disabilities in Darmstadt-Wixhausen .

Description and history

The Hofgut Aumühle was acquired in 1899 by the Hessian State Association for Inner Mission. The approximately 13 hectare estate was initially a facility for difficult-to-educate young people. After the Second World War it was used temporarily to accommodate young war returnees. In 1976, the Inner Mission closed the youth facility.

In 1977 the Aumühle facility for the disabled was opened. In 1983, after the renovation and expansion of the old mill, the facility for the disabled was officially opened.

The Aumühle facility for the disabled is sponsored by Mission-Leben, Jugend- und Behindertenhilfe gGmbH. A workshop for people with disabilities and the residential community are the two areas of activity at Aumühle. The residential network is divided into 4 living areas, outpatient assisted living and the day care center. The living areas offer two different types of care (inpatient and inpatient) for a total of 130 women and men between the ages of 18 and 83, almost 40 clients live in their own apartments in the district. There are also around 180 places in the workshop for adults with intellectual disabilities. The workshop area is divided into the areas of gardening, industrial services, shredding and laundry. The “Daily structure living” measure is available to people who have left the workshop for people with disabilities (WfbM) due to age, illness or disability. The so-called “second milieu”, day care, should offer structure, security and reliability for the participants in everyday life. Free time should be used sensibly and meaningfully, if possible individually adapted. The daily structure offers appropriate offers and support for everyone who has left the workshop.
