A compensating lever (also called compensating lever ) connects the springs of two or more adjacent axles of a vehicle with more than two axles, especially in rail vehicles . Its task is to ensure an even and statically determined load distribution on all axes even on uneven ground or poorly laid rails . The function of the compensating lever corresponds roughly to that of an axle rocker .
