Carlos Hernández Valverde (born April 9, 1982 in La Pastora ) is a Costa Rican soccer player .
Life
Hernández, who grew up in the province of San José , was discovered in his youth by the capital club LD Alajuelense and brought into the team. There he made his first division debut at the age of 19 and has since been one of the most successful clubs of the last decade. In addition to three national championships, they also won the Central American club championship, the CONCACAF Champions Cup 2004.
Since he was young, he has also played in the various national teams. With the U20 he took part in the Junior World Championships in Argentina in 2001 and with the U23 Olympic team he took part in the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens. In the same year came his first use for the Costa Rican national team . The powerful midfielder, who is known for his tight long-range shots, has since played regularly for his country and scored important goals, including in the successful qualification for the 2006 World Cup in Germany. There he was included in Costa Rica's World Cup squad .
In 2007 it was awarded to Melbourne Victory in Australia. He contributed significantly to winning the championship in the 2008/2009 season and on Melbourne side they tried everything to sign Hernández firmly. However, Hernandez decided to move to India to Prayag United .
In the summer of 2013 he moved back to the A-League , where he signed a contract with the New Zealand representative Wellington Phoenix .
