history
In 1962 AD Pérez Zeledón was founded and played for most of its existence in the Liga de Ascenso-Segunda División
In 1991, the AD Pérez Zeledón rose three years after the other club in the canton of Pérez Zeledón, AD Municipal Generaleña, in the Primera División de Costa Rica . The boards of both clubs then decided that it would be better if there was only one first division club in the medium-sized city of San Isidro, otherwise there would be competition within the city, so the two clubs merged in 1991 to form the AD Municipal de Pérez Zeledón .
Since the merger, Pérez Zeledón has played continuously in the Primera División de Costa Rica. The club's greatest success for a long time was the runner-up in the 2004/2005 season.
In Apertura 2017, Perez Zeledón was able to qualify for the finals in fourth and managed to win it surprisingly as an outsider. Then the club managed to defend a 1-0 win in the first leg against reigning champions Herediano away in the final and win the championship for the first time in the club's history.
