Backup side gun

The auxiliary side rifle or incorrectly also replacement side rifle is the military name for a bayonet . Since there was a shortage of ordonance weapons in the First World War , the auxiliary side rifles were used. They were obtained for the service as follows:

  • 1.) By new production.
  • 2.) Conversion of bayonet and sidelight blades from weapons that were confiscated or captured at the beginning of the war (only those that fit the Gewehr 98 .
  • 3.) Manufacture of vessels that could be replanted, including the use of old or captured bayonet and side gun blades.
