Electrical installation switch symbol single-pole off switch

A switch-off is used to either switch electrical equipment on or off. The term makes it clear that equipment that is connected to a power supply without a circuit breaker would be in constant operation.

One speaks of a control switch-off when z. B. a control light ( glow lamp , partly also incandescent lamp) is integrated into the switch, which lights up as soon as the switch is turned on.

The function of the integrated lamp can be changed so that it lights up continuously regardless of the switching status or only when the switch is switched off (orientation function), thus making it easier to find the switch in dark and / or unknown surroundings.
